One sentence a day keeps the hunters away |
Sometimes all you need is a huge 55K fic filled with UST, action, drama and sex. Sometimes, instead, all you need to change the outcome of your day is one small sentence. Sometimes all you need is love. Or Derek/Stiles - which is kind of the same thing, if you ask me. |
Day seventeen
26. afterthought
It was merely an afterthought, something that he meant to have said in his mind, not out loud, but it was there, like the elephant strutting around in the room, the question he hadn’t meant to ask but he did; now the thing that remained was whether Derek would answer it, give Stiles the pleasure of taking him to his graduation, relish in his triumph with his favorite sourwolf.
Day sixteen
27. snow
Derek’s ears were on high alert: the snowstorm hadn’t been able to keep his primal wolf instincts at bay, and he needed to run, to hunt, to feed, which gave him no choice but to run into the freezing winds and cold snow for some adrenaline pumping; but he hadn’t expected to find a human (much less a boy), lost in his woods, shivering as he appeared to be going into hypothermia; Derek should have left him there (he had no need or relation to him, no importance to him), but something deeper than the wolf in him wouldn’t let him leave, wouldn’t abandon the child, he had to save him, keep him warm; so he carried him on his back, slowly shifting him forward as he raised himself into his human form, realizing how amusing he looked in his arms.
Day fifteen
30. strawberries
Stiles didn’t like waking up early in the morning, or hard labor, or anything that involved him with tools (bad experiences), so when Derek told him he wanted to take him to a farm for a “surprise”, it was no-way-no-how-when-hell-freezes-over-twice-on-the-pits-of-mordor-and-even-then-no; then Derek whispered in his ear about the strawberry-themed surprised he had for him and he was quickly excited.
Day fourteen
12. lipstick
Lydia thought it would be hilarious to leave a lipstick stained kiss on Stiles’ collar without him noticing when he went to Derek’s; two things happened: Lydia learned not to joke with Derek, and Stiles learned that Derek is great in bed when he’s jealous.
Day thirteen
07. wallet
Stiles woke up in his bed, his brain banging at his skull, trying to make heads or tails of last night events at the party, a single silhouette of perfect beauty speaking to him between drunken sips; he wondered if it was all real, whether he would see him again, when he found a number in his wallet, and the words come find me written all over his chest.
Day twelve
10. archery
If the arrow flies through, it means our love is true: As Derek’s arrow pierced the air, the entire crowd fell into a hush, Stiles’ heart beating like a lion, as his hopes that his brave knight would win his hand, and the kingdom would allow their love to be.
Day eleven
08. shopping
Derek was at that point in which he was about to claw out the eyes of the next person who offered him hand cream, but he didn’t because, then their plan would be ruined, and Stiles would kill him if Scott, Jackson, and Danny (A.K.A. The Metallics, as he liked to call them, for their mindless chatter and robotic movements) kicked him out because he couldn’t handle a little shopping spree.
Day ten
16. lake
Stiles often found himself swimming in the lake near his old summer home: the sun a yellow ball in the sky, the breeze cool but not in a chilly way, trees keeping the silence busy with songs of birds and rustles from the leaves; it was heaven for him, so much that he never noticed the creature that hid under the lake bed, floating from the shadows to observe him, admire him, to crave him… to love him.
Day nine
05. ballerina flats
Derek had just gotten out of watching tonight’s performance, (one of the town’s better shows) simply mesmerized at the dance, such grace and power in a simple score of music; it called to him, lured him towards them, the swaying of their shoes (which he’d soon know to be called ballerina flats) nearly toppled him over, spilling himself onto the oncoming stream of boys that were about to come into the scene, a certain one catching his eye.
Day eight
02. stardust
Derek was in the sky, his brothers and he floating behind the moon’s splendor, stardust lightly falling from them onto the earth; he normally didn’t care for this, for they were always the same way, floating in the sky, with the moon, as the stars clinging and dangling, but that night, he saw upon the ground a reason for falling; oh, how he wished he could dive and give his magic to the boy.
